Happy Monday everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend.
My weekend was fantastic- I kept it very low key. Mark was out of town, so Friday night I stayed in, watched many, many episodes of “Sex and the City” and painted my toenails. Saturday I had to work for a few hours, and then met up with my friends for yoga and dinner out. Sunday I worked again for a few hours, and then went dress shopping again. This time I was very successful- as not only did I find a dress, a found a dress for $60!
After I got home from shopping, I got thinking on Sunday night. As I’ve mentioned on here before, work gets really busy for me from January to the end of April. This week is the real start of it-from here on out, I’ll be working anywhere between 50-70 hours per week. This is a fact that I can’t control.
But what I can control is my attitude towards it. I can go to work each and every day, and hate each moment and complain about how much I am working. Or, I can find the positives in each day, and try and find enjoyment wherever I can.
My goal for the next four months is to achieve the latter- find something positive for each day to look forward to. Maybe that will be something as small as listening to good music throughout the day, or taking a 30 minute break to grab some coffee or tea in the middle of the work day. Or maybe it’ll be something as big as enjoying a full day off, a great yoga class or a nice meal out.
My intent is to find at least one thing each day to look forward to. On my drive to work, I plan to think of what I am looking forward to, and on my drive home, I plan to think of something I am grateful for from the day.
Anyone have any ideas of things I can do to look forward to each busy work day? Does anyone else do this?
Wish me luck! Hopefully it’ll make the next few months fly by.

That is such a good attitude to have!! Sometimes low key weekends end up being so much better than full ones
Thanks Rachel! I agree- I use to be against lazy weekends but lately they’re just what I crave. They’re amazing!
I agree with the good music and the tea… Small things to look forward to make long days better. I also like to take a half day off on a Thursday and get a massage or something, knowing that I’ll have to work on the weekend anyways.
Love your positive attitude!
I love the idea of taking a half day on Thursday when you’re already committed to working the weekend. I imagine that to feel absolutely indulgant! Thanks for the idea
